Finally, the icy war between Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), under the Planning Commission and the home ministry National Population Register (NPR), has been put to an finish.

The Cabinet committee has allowed UIDAI to over out the enumeration process of 400 million more residents in 16 states and Union territories (UTs), in addition to the 200 million already recommended by the expenditure finance committee. In the remaining 12 states and three UTs, having about 600 million residents, the NPR will complete the biometric enumeration and enrollment. The enrolment will be completed by June 2013.
